Toscolano-Maderno . Toscolano Maderno

Toscolano Maderno, is the ideal resort for enjoying Lake Garda in all its fascinating, intriguing complexity.

Amongst the towns of the bresciana shore of Lake Garda, Toscolano is without doubt one of the most idealistic spots as regards to bathing, with large beaches and amenities, but is also a town of high cultural and environmental value: it is situated within the Natural Reserve of the higher Garda Bresciano, a large protected area that includes the historical-environmental characteristics of this coastal area, and here surges one of the most important examples of industrial heritage of Italy, or rather the Vally of the Papermills.

Since the XIV Century, Tosconalo, sole example on the Garda Lake, has concentrated on its territory, in particular along the valley of the torrent that gives its name to the town itself, an important papermill industry. The numerous papermills created a very active industrial area during the second half the 19th Century, but where gradually abandoned by the beginning of the 20th Century.

Today, the heritage of that flourishing economic epoch is at the base of a large tourist industry that forms one of the principle attractions of Lake Garda. But Toscolano Maderno, apart from being a destination of great interest, represents and ideal starting point to get to know in depth Lake Garda and its surroundings.
